Globetrotter | Serra Turker from Misela

Misela designer Serra Turker finds inspiration in both her home town Istanbul and her adopted city New York, making her colorful handbag and home accessories collections a reflection of her travels between the two cities.

What is your favorite travel destination and why?

I love to go to vacation during summer, I especially think that to be able to go in the Mediterranean Sea is the only way to restart your whole body and rejuvenate. So one of my favorite places to go during summer is the small Greek islands on the Aegean coast of Turkey. I especially love Symi and Patmos.

Which 3 travel essentials we can always find in your suitcase?

My body cream to make me feel at home, a travel size candle with me wherever I go because I love scented candles and my laptop.

If you would design a suitcase, what would it look like?

It would definitely look like the old Louis Vuitton trunks with all the compartments inside.

What is your preferred travel style?

I prefer to travel light however it is never the case when I am travelling these days because I mostly travel for work and I do need to carry a lot of stuff with me!

The ?Istanbul in my dreams? collection has been the launch of Misela in 2008. What is your idea of a dream holiday?

My dream holiday is to go away with my closest three girlfriends to a place where we have never been before and spend quality time together. It is always super fun to be just the girls and explore a new destination.

What is your most memorable travel moment?

My most memorable travel moment is when my closest girlfriends and I went to Alacati in Turkey for the first time in our lives. The experience was magical because we had no idea what to expect and we found ourselves in the middle of this old Greek town with historic stone buildings. I think it is still one of most exciting places to go during summer.

What is the best shopping find you've ever made while traveling and where did you find it?

My best shopping find would be the antique accessories that I found in the flea market in Paris.
