What made you decide to focus on your own cashmere scarf line?
Shawls and scarves have always been an integral part of every Indian woman?s wardrobe. For a long time they have simply served a necessary purpose based on tradition and cultural heritage. What we are looking to do, is address that need in a very high quality manner with cashmere while also allowing these items to become a form of expression for the women that wear them. As Indian women become more bold and vivacious and embrace their roles on the world stage, accessories such as ours will enable them to demonstrate their creativity and passion to their global peers.

Janavi is about quality, luxury, and expression. Each of our products is the result of meticulous choices in materials, a rigorous and largely handmade production process, and a design sensibility rooted in passion. We strive to enable fashion-conscious, forward-thinking women in their quest to express themselves to the world. Our clients demand quality and seek beauty, and that is what we strive to fulfill with each shawl, scarf, or accessory that we create.

 

The ?Janavi? scarfs are full of color and unique designs. Which inspirations drive your designs?
Our design sensibilities are rooted in our cultural heritage, because that is where our origin lies.  Our key motifs include natural elements and animals, tribal elements, and graphic flourishes from Indian heritage. All of these elements are then combined and interpreted through the most important lens for this range - colour. Very simply, it was colour that inspired us to create a line of digitally printed scarves. Our use of colour is also what injects modernity and passion into our heritage - and our products therefore reflect the reality of the modern Indian woman.
