What are your upcoming holidays travels plans?

I?ll be visiting friends (and hopefully surfing!) in Nosara, Costa Rica.

What was your favorite past holiday trip?

Any holiday spent with loved ones, especially on a beach! When I was a kid my family would often travel to the Caribbean side of Mexico for the holidays. I love it there so much that I just had my wedding in Tulum. We traveled around the Yucatan for a week afterwards, it was pretty magical. 

 

What are your fantasy travel plans for the holidays?

I?m fascinated by Central and South America and there?s so much in Mexico still to see, too, Merida, Yelapa, Mexico City, Colina, Todos Santos. I?d love to go to Istanbul and Marrakesh and Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Okay, obviously, I?m going to need more time than just one holiday vacation.

 

What are your top local spots in your hometown of Milwaukee?

If you?re tough enough to brave the cold in Milwaukee over the holidays, there are tons to do especially if you like to eat and drink! I love dining with friends and family at La Merenda. It?s a super-cozy restaurant that focuses on small plates and tasty cocktails. Buddies of mine own a terrific farm-to-table restaurant called Goodkind and a great neighborhood bar called Burnhearts. I also always swing by Comet for a classic Wisconsin Bloody Mary (with a tiny beer on the side!) and a crazy Tiki cocktail at the hilariously kitschy ?70s bar At Random.

For shopping, I love nothing more than spending a day hunting through Milwaukee?s many huge thrift stores. If you are willing to dig you can find some amazing treasures at really amazing prices.

Always in your suitcase?

What are your upcoming holidays travels plans?

This Thanksgiving I plan to travel to Darien, CT to visit my cousins. We have a tradition of making hot toddies and taking a long walk along the water. For Christmas I will be taking off for Los Angeles to enjoy the California sunshine.

 

What was your favorite past holiday trip?

My favorite past holiday trip was with my family, sailing the French West Indies. We spent a memorable day in St. Barths enjoying cocktails as the sun went down. I suggest you eat lunch at the Eden Rock Hotel, simply delicious.

What are your Fantasy travel plans for the holidays?

A Safari in Africa! It is on my bucket list. I would like to travel all over Africa for a few weeks and hike Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, eventually landing in Cape Town, South Africa, for a bit of rest after the Safari. 

 

What are your top local spots in LA?

The Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel has the most fantastic lunch and you can sit outside on the enchanting patio while you sip cocktails. 

For a nightcap, head to the garden at the Chateau Marmont. The hotel holds so much history, generating a palpable feeling energy of the old Hollywood days.

For all of my shopping needs I head to the Brentwood Country Mart. There are cute jewelry stores, book nooks and shops such as Jenni Kayne and special chocolatiers like Edelweiss. To relax after shopping you can enjoy a fresh meal at FARMSHOP and sip some of the most delicious iced coffee ever.

What are your upcoming holidays travels plans?

I?m heading to London in early December and will be there for a few days and then home to the Washington, DC area for the holidays. 

 

What was your favorite past holiday trip?

I always love going home. It's nice to get out of New York and head to a much more relaxed city environment.

 

What are your fantasy travel plans for the holidays?

My fantasy would be to go to Cuba! I've heard so many amazing things. 

 

What are your top local spots in DC?

I forget about shopping and usually eat my way through town!  I'll have brunch at the Four Seasons, stop at the original Georgetown Cupcakes for a treat, hit Passenger Bar for a cocktail and finish with a delicious meal at Masa.
