Al Kawtar
Al Kawtar was established as a not-for-profit commercial entity for disabled Moroccan women?many of whom are single mothers?in order to give them the resources and opportunities to provide for their families. In the day-care-meets-embroidery-workshop located on a side alleyway in the Medina, these women produce exquisite hand-sewn linens, including beautifully embroidered pillowcases, baby clothes and travel pouches, sold in the breezy boutique a block over on Rue Laksour.

Khalid Art Gallery
Shopping at this Medina spot is much like embarking on a treasure hunt. Indeed, over several floors of a narrow riad are countless rooms packed to the brim with top-notch antiques and pieces of art?imagine hand-carved wooden Berber doors, giant ceramic urns and antique jewellery. Every piece might not have the elaborate tale behind it that shop workers would have you believe, but no one can dispute the exquisite quality. And even better, haggling is allowed.

Lalla
French fashion stylist and personal shopper Laetitia Trouillet puts a modern and undeniably chic spin on classic Moroccan shapes and fabrics with her line of stylish bags. And from her
boutique in the Souk Cherifia, you can load up on lovely pouches made from vintage Moroccan fabrics, leather drawstring tote bags she calls ?Habibis,? macram? leather satchels and heavily embellished Berber-themed clutches.

Boutique Bel Hadj
If you adore beautifully chunky baubles, then Boutique Bel Hadj in the Medina is a must for your shopping list. The boutique offers elaborate hand-beaded necklaces and the like, made in a workshop just across from the store. If you don?t see just the thing, you?re welcome to work with the artisans there on your own custom creation.

Place Vend?me
The spot for top-quality leather goods in Marrakech, Place Vend?me operates from a busy storefront on Avenue Mohammed V in the Gu?liz. Go there for Herm?s-esque handbags (complete with an orange leather trim), handmade wallets, sleek leather jackets, and carryalls of every shape and size?all of which can be had for a much lower price than at home. Custom orders are honoured, too, and take a couple of days to finish.
