Long known for her luxe Mumbai concept store Bungalow 8, Maithili Ahluwalia?s latest venture is turning her global chic esthetic into a new clothing line called the BUNGALOW. In collaboration with designer Mathieu Gugumus Leguillon, the new BUNGALOW collection is filled with smart and easy clothing inspired by India. We recently caught up with Maithili and asked her to share her favorite must visit-haunts in NYC.
I love Beautiful Dreamers in Brooklyn, it has the most unusual and eclectic selection of designers that you don't see elsewhere. Also, Ellen on Ludlow Street is great. Ellen's sharp eye for finding the best vintage is unmatched! I always go to No 6 Store for their amazing clogs.
Beautiful Dreamers: 326 Wythe Ave, New York, NY 11211, (718) 388-4884. Ellen: 122 Ludlow St, New York, NY 10002, (917) 386-7899. No. 6 Store: 6 Centre Market Pl, New York, NY 10013, (212) 226-5759.
I love Cafe Gitane and Il Buco because they are old stomping grounds from my college days and have consistently delivered fresh fare. Another one of my favorites is Momofuko - do I even have to explain?
Cafe Gitane: 242 Mott St, New York, NY, (212) 334-9552. Il Buco: 47 Bond St, New York, NY 10012, (212) 533-1932. Momofuku: 207 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10003, (212) 254-3500.
Snacks, Coffee, and Cocktails
I always go to Magnolia Bakery for the best cupcakes in town. I like Gramercy Hotel for an evening drink because it's one of the few spots where you can slouch into comfortable seating and actually hear the person you're with from across the table. I also love The Wythe Hotel rooftop bar because of the expansive views of the city on a breezy spring evening.
