Since Mexico has long been a favorite Shop Latitude destination, we were thrilled to have found Amandina in the Yucatan Peninsula. Georgina and Joana, the design duo behind this exciting new jewelry brand incorporate handmade filigree into their boldly contemporary earrings, necklaces and bracelets. We recently caught up with the designers and asked them for the story behind their label.
Amandina is a Mexico based jewelry brand specializing in one of a kind jewels born from the fusion of modern design with artisanal handmade filigree.
How does travel inspire your collection?
Traveling, visiting different regions and getting to know their jewelry techniques all over Mexico makes us appreciate and fall in love again with the amazing traditions from our hometown.
Tell us about the process of working with artisans?
We?ve been working with talented artisans for many years now - it?s an enriching experience for both sides, as each teaches the other what they know best. Joana and I started working with them since school, so now we know them well and work with fair trade values. As a result, all of our pieces are made carefully one by one by hand, so you can really feel how much patience, dedication and love the whole team puts into them!
